Every child here learns at their own pace. Teachers plan for the child in front of them, not a script. Instruction is individualized, and the approach includes STEAM, outdoor play, and hands-on experiences. The goal is a lifelong love of learning. Children work on thinking logically, critically, and creatively, and they do it alongside classmates and teachers.

Walk into a room and you will see children at different points in the same project. Some sketch, some build, some test an idea again. Teachers move between small groups, asking questions rather than giving answers. Materials are out and reachable, and outdoor time is part of the plan, not a reward. Children take charge of their work and learn to stick with it.

The school has been in Harrisburg since 1971. The building is LEED-certified, designed with simple, energy-efficient systems. Students have taken part in KidWind since 2012. Teachers get down to the child's level and listen. They follow what a child is working on and offer a next step rather than a correction. Small groups let each child get attention and a turn to talk.
